One of my photos was selected as a finalist at Dave Brown Projects 3rd Semiannual Photo contest.
The contest was curated by Paddy Johnson, Art Fag City, New York; Richard Polsky, Author and Art Dealer; and Christina Strassfield, Guild Hall Museum, New York.
There were 6 cash prizes totalling $10,000 and 25 finalists like myself chosen. Unfortunately I was not a cash prize winner but am happy to report that I was chosen as a finalist none the less.
This is my third submission to Dave Brown Projects contest and am very proud that I was recoginized.

I was invited to take photos of my friend Frankie's uncle's Miniature Trains, Uncle Al. He lives in Staten Island so I took a ride out there this week, rented some lighting and some lenses and did a full day photo shoot.
Uncle Al has been working on this train set for about 20 years, it is totally amazing. Check out the photos.

I met John Sebastian at the Javits Center this weekend for the Contemporary ArtFair.
He is the publisher for "The New York Optimist."
He came up to my booth and we started talking about Photography and things. He was impressed with my work and emailed me to let me know I will be featured shortly at his website.

I was on 79th and 1st for the Marathon, I went to CPW and 63rd from the Penthouse, Union Square, Madison Square Park from 22nd and 5th on the 30th floor and from Battery Park City-Rector Place the roofdeck.

During the Marathon last week I took some photos from my friends balcony on 79th and 1st, got some great shots from there. The apt was on the 24th floor.

A few weeks back I went on a helicopter ride around Manhattan and got some shots from that day too. I have been in a helicopter over Manhattan before 2 times and the cityscape is always changing....especially after Sept. 11th.

Philly is a nice town, not as big as Boston but some good opportunites for photos. The best place for me to shoot was on top of city hall. It is a great spot to see the whole city and we had a perfect day to go also.

It was nice except for our bus breaking down on the way home so it took us 6 hours to get home instead of 2 hours.

The show itself was unorganized an did not get as many people to our booths as we would have liked. Started out on Thursday with problems and continued throughout the show. Many of the other artists were disappointed also in the turn out. Did make some good connections, a couple of sales but expecting the exposure from this fair and my upcoming fair at US Photoshows on Saturday March 19th at the Lighthouse located at 111 East 59th Street. Show is from 8:00-4:00.

I Shot today for "Red Lobster" for a Promotional Ad

Today I shot interior shots for Red Lobster in Times Square (their largest restaurant in the United States). They just opened up a Conference Room for Banquets at this location. The Darden Group which owns restaurants such as Olive Garden, Texas Longhorn Steakhouses and Red Lobster requested photos for a promotional Ad to promote corporate events.

It is a beautiful gym located at 423 West 55th Street. They showcase a few artists already that have done very well. Looks like the other artists have a large following so we are expecting the shows to do well. I am probably showing NY Photos but am waiting for their picks of what they want me to use.

Tonight is DC Fotoweek Award Ceremony at the Corcoran Art Gallery

I am on my way to DC to collect my award for 1st Place in the Fine Art category of DC Fotoweek competition. The ceremony is being held at the Corcoran Art Gallery along with photos shown on buildings in DC. It is called the Night Gallery and my photo will be shown as a projected image on the Corcoran Gallery's facade.

If you have never been to Peru or Machu Picchu you are missing an amazing country. Lima, Cusco and the Sacred Valley along with of course Machu Picchu is spectacular. It is everything you have ever thought it might be and more. I posted a few HDR images at my website but still am going over my photos which has taken me 2 weeks so far.

Jet Blue had a 2 day sale for $10.00 each way plus tax and I couldn't resist just to go to Chicago for the day to take picutures. I haven't been there in years and I wanted to go to the new outdoor art in Millenium Park.

It was very cool the reception I got from the curator and the staff at the Museum. I went with my girlfriend Laura and we were treated like celebrities. The grounds were beautiful and the collection is starting to get much more modern unlike the way the other curator was purchasing and choosing photos for the Biennial shows.

Many friends came by, I appreciate the support everybody. Lots of people from the other Brooklyn Dumbo galleries came by, Two Trees management people came by, Zannah, some local artists dropped in as well as Jan Larsen who owns 2 galleries in Dumbo also. It was a great time wish you were there. Will probably do another show next month for the 1st Thursdays again in Dumbo.

Frommer's has this very cool contest that anyone can enter as many photos as they want to and if your photo is picked to be on the cover of one of their books you can win $5,000. I just entered about 25 photos and have not really started to look seriously through all of the places I have traveled, this could take me a full week to do.

Today I went Gallery hopping to drop off Postcards and introduce myself to many of the Galleries that are participating in the Dumbo 1st Thursday Gallery Walk. Made a few connections with the owners and submitted work to at least 3 Galleries today and going back next week for another appointment with a 4th.

A new show starting in February at Yaffe Ruden Galleries...

Yafee Ruden Galleries is a unique kind of artist exhibit to say the least. It is at a very successfull private medical practice, gastroenterology, phobia treatment, nutrition, bone density, physical therapy specialists. Every year they pick 2 different artists to be showcased on one of their many walls of art but it is considered a Solo Show because of the amount of wall space given to each of the two artists. I should have about 12 different Photos on display there for about a year. The show will have an Opening reception on Tuesday February 9th, 2010 from 7:30-9:00, all are welcome. Yaffe Ruden are located at 201 East 65th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues in Manhattan. The show is open Monday-Friday starting on February 10th from 9:00-5:00.

I bought myself the Polaroid POGO which prints instant (60 seconds) photos. This thing is damn cool. I can see how you can use this in so many fun ways. Just a heads up and Radio Shack had it on sale for 1/2 price like $30 and I bought 30 more sheets of paper for another $10. Worth a shot if you want to use it for parties or anything of that sort.

I now have 14 pieces hanging on their walls and will have an opening probably on February 4th. Moti the owner hung all the pieces on Friday, I have my price list ready and will be sending out an email inviting everyone probably the 1st week after New Years. http://www.bacocafe.com/ is where it will be and you have to see some of my new photos I took on Friday at the NY Public Library Main Reading Room, they look great. Some HDR shots, some Multiple Exposures and also of Grand Central.

I signed up and hooked up big time and shot the NY Public Library Main reading room before it opened this morning and got some amazing shots. Some great HDR's, some Multiple Exposures and just photos with noboby in the room-ahhhhh, amazing! Then I went to Grand Central with my Tripod which I also got permission to do. It will take me all day tomorrow just to go through them but I know I also got some great shots. I rented a fisheye lens from Adorama for the day which was a very good idea if I say so myself.
Wait and see the Photos once I post them.

As I scower the web for Tilt Shift information and updates look what I find....

Boca Cafe located at 71 Jay Street in (DUMBO) Brooklyn, NY will be handling my Tilt Shift Photography along with some other photographs that I have framed and ready to hang.
I will be hanging about 10 Tilt Shift Photos along with some other pieces from other shows that I have had in the past.

The show at Baboo Digital (37 West 20th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues) is a Group Show and they were setting it up tonight for the Thursday night opening. Looks like a very eclectic show with the other photographers work. Great work there, many great photographers out there trying to make a name for themselves too. Baboo does brilliant printing for a very fair price and the guys there are amazing to work with, so nice. Would love to have a good turn out but we all know so many people have holiday parties and other functions to be at. I have 2 pieces for the show which I am calling "MILKY" due to the Milkiness of the photo style. I would like to compare it to Massimo Vitali's work in it's appearance. Now lets's see how many pieces we can sell. Hope to see you there.

So I finally had a chance to go to LUMAS to see if they had any of my pieces on display and they did. They had "Parliament Buildings" in the larger size of 31.5 x 47.2 inches in a pretty good position in the store. It did look great if I say so myself. Surprised that they didn't choose my "Southstreet Seaport" one be it that we are in New York but I don't make the decisions and as I said it did look impressive. Will be finding out more information about sales as the year ends as how I actually did. PS-My photo opening is happening this Thursday Dec. 10th at Baboo Digital located at 37 West 20th Street from 6:00-9:00, all are welcome. The show is called "Milky".
