"Vertical Churches" - Havana, Cuba

Just got back from Havana, Cuba and I was very surprised at the beautiful Churches in the city. I was able to photograph about 12 of them but was only able to get 9 of them in my "Vertical Church" style.

I posted them on BEHANCE and on Flickr.

"Vertical Church" Series, Italy...

I am continuing with my "Vertical Church" Series with my recent travels to Italy, especially Rome.
My Italy trip consisted of Milan, Venice, Trieste and Rome. With so many churches/cathedrals to photograph, it took up many hours of my trip to search and find them but well worth the time and efforts.
Here is a link to my "Vertical Churches of Italy".

Over 50 Websites have posted my "Vertical Churches"...

Since the original article from The Telegraph on November 24th my Vertical Churches have been picked up by a number of other news services.
First by MailOnline also in the UK, then DerStandard in Germany picked it up and now the photos have been posted in over a dozen countries worldwide.
But my favorite one so far is the one from thisisnthappiness blog. So far I have over 6,100 hits, the previous article about Kate Moss in Playboy with nude photos of her only had 2,600 hits.
People would rather see my Churches then Kate Moss naked? Really???

How about you?

And here are some of my "Vertical Church" Photos.

MACY'S Brooklyn, Fulton Street Furniture Dept.

Last week MACY'S located at 422 Fulton Street in downtown Brooklyn completely renovated their Furniture Department which is in the lower level of the store.
I was asked to photograph parts of Brooklyn so the photos can be used as large mural type photos from sizes of 13' x 10' up to a skyline panorama photo which is over 50' long. We used 3 photos, Brooklyn Bridge, the front of a Brownstone and the Manhattan view from Williamsburg

These are the photos of the 3 murals in the store...

WENN Photos and Nikon Germany promoted my photos today...

W*E*N*N a photo online news agency promoted my photos at their website. They posted my "New York Churches" today. They found it from the Petapixel posting from last week. Many other sites picked up the story too.

Nikon Germany posted on their Facebook page my "New York Sliced" Photos. Nina Sahm who works at Nikon found my photos on the web a few weeks ago.

A new way to see NY Churches...

Since using my Nikon D800 I have been experimenting more and more. Recently I was playing around with Panorama's from some of my older photos and was personally impressed with some of the results. Inspired by those photos I decided to go out and try something different.
Traveling as much as I do I am always blown away by the world's religious buildings, especially the intricate interior details. With that being said in New York we have some pretty amazing hidden treasures of churches. Brooklyn has a tremendous amount that I need to go shoot but I started with some Manhattan churches first.
So far I have had some trouble getting churches to shoot. 5 of them were closed, 2 under construction and 1 I was not allowed to shoot with a tripod. The ones I did shoot, 5 so far are posted at my Flickr account attached.
The way I shot them was this: Be in the middle aisle, shoot from the pew to the back in a circle to get the ceiling in full. Camera is on my tripod and get to shoot straight up the ceiling and them change the direction of the camera to keep a smooth transition. I then use Lightroom, Lens Correction then to Photoshop to use their stitching mode which is Photomerge. Play around with the Puppet Warp because when shooting with a 14mm Nikon lens you get some warping when shooting ceilings.

Panorama's..................Lots of Panorama's......

I was reading an article last week about Panorama's and another article about going back to look at old photos. So what I did was put the 2 of those ideas together and I came up with fixing all of my Panorama photos.
I've taken Panorama's from so many places and have not posted them anywhere for others to see my work. I figured it was time to go back and get them all done and ready to show the world. Once the project got started I was amazed as to how many I actually took.
The easiest way to get them on the web is through my Flickr account but they will probably be posted at my www.richardsilvephoto.com site for sale next month.

Here are a few examples with the link to my Flickr Set...
